Dog poo

Do you have a dog?

Dogs are cute and cuddly but once they do their business it changes.
The one thing that you hate about dogs is their poop - they just do it wherever they feel like it. Why can't they just learn to go to the toilet.

You hate stepping in dog poop because you just got new shoes and squish.
Darn you DOG!
WHY…

Then when you know it it's 6:00am, you suddenly flash open your eyes as your dog wants to go outside. You can just hear the snoring from the other rooms. You get up and open the door and bang! The dog races to the backyard. You think the dog is chasing a cat or something, but nope...plop plop plop.

You ask your Dad to pick the dog poop up already, he says he will do it tomorrow.
“Mum, can we teach the dog to go toilet?” “Sure, sure”

You watch the dog do the business.

The next afternoon it's a lovely sunny beautiful day and your playing outside, then the dog comes...WHY? WHY!

Ewwww ewwww!

Why did you have to poop in the middle of the backyard...gross.

Do you really want a dog?

Parachute
The parachute that we were trying to make was fun it took a while but at the end it was fun. So what we did first was cut the paper and we would fold the paper so it would look like the top of a parachute.

Week 5 Science

Flight vs Gliding
This week we explored flight & gliding
Gliding is an uncontrolled movement for example where you don't move your wings. Flying is a controlled movement where you are moving your wings to help you fly. We have also been learning about manmade and natural flying things. Manmade is where someone has built something on their own. Natural flying things are not built by man but still use thrust, weight, lift, and drag.

I've wondered how long birds can live for? I also wondered when they are gliding or flying do their muscles change in their body?

I hope that I can learn more about gliding & flying.

We are trying to get some data so we can know more about birds and how they fly and glide. I will continue to gather and infer information using my planning book.
How we are going to get and gather data. We will get information and then write it down in our planning books. We want to gather enough information so that we know more about the forces than we did before.

Camp

Camp

When we got to the cold damp Wainui Camp we dropped off our bags at our cabins.

Camp was fun but once it was bed time it changed...it was carnage! You couldn't sleep - you had to go to sleep fast or you would pay because you would keep the teachers up and they wouldn't like that.

On the first night almost everyone in our cabin was scared because someone in our cabin was telling scary stories. But the funny thing was that he was scaring himself. He might do it a lot at home because he said the scary stories 5 times, 5 times. OK not going to say it again.

After the first night I said to myself I'm really tired. Ah I know why I'm tired, because of that guy that was telling the scary stories. The next morning everyone was yelling at him for the carnage in our cabin. I said to myself I really need a good night sleep.

That night we got some sleep and in the morning I was fast asleep. When I heard banging near me I woke up. “Hey wake, Sam,” said Samuel.
“Ok I'm up,” I said sleepily. Everyone had packed their bags and they were ready to go to the hall.  I'm like “What the?”
“Come on, pack your bags Sam’” said Samuel.
“Ok, ok. Let's start then.”
About 1hour later “Ok I'm ready. Now let's go to the hall.”
Everyone got into the photo and click.

Trebuchet

Week 4 trebuchet
This week I've been learning all about this new Machine that called the trebuchet it is a catapult that fires a tennis ball. My data gathering is so we had a weight of 4 and then we kept putting more weight in counterweight. The most that I got in my planning book was 19 weights. The projectile was a tennis balls why you must be asking yourself because we only had a tennis ball for the trebuchet. My distance was 8.2m/ 11.8m/15.6m/18.0m/15.3m/22.2m/21.3m/22.0m/30.5m/32.0m/17.6m/
When we put more weight in the trebuchet the ball went higher and further . I was wondering to myself wondering to myself why is that happening but now I've found out why that happened because we put more weight in the counter weight. Maybe back in the days that they used the trebuchet and put more weight in the counterweight so that when their enemy was charging at them, the big boulder crushed them. Why you would have to do all that hard work to just fire one boulder?

Chekky

This one day my friend and I were having a sleepover and it was nighttime and my friend Jamie was brushing his teeth. After I raced to bed about two minutes later Jamie came down to bed we were sleeping in the lounge. We were talking and then when my mum traipsed back to bed, we fell asleep.  3 hours later my friend was awake, he woke me up. Jamie said that we could go and get some food to eat… I said NO let's watch TV. We were watching Tv for 2 hours then my mum came. We both hid under the blankets and went back to sleep…but we were actually faking it. After my mum went back to bed and we watched more Tv  for another 30 mins. OM can you believe this she does not know that we are awake. After we fell back to sleep, until morning. My mum never knew about that day!!

My reflection on that day was that my mum really thought that we were asleep but we were not we were watching Tv It was kind of boring because all the programs that were on I did not like. But anyway it was funny when my mum didn't know.

Week 3 drag
After the first time that we did this experiment we got a good result but this next time we did better. We put a piece of paper on the front of the balloon and it almost went all the way but it was a couple centimetres away from the end. The balloon was all wrinkly and soft. Our length for the balloon was about 4.30m long.

Balloon rocket

Balloon rocket

The first time that we did the rocket balloon we were doing it with Solomon and Nicholas. We got all of are stuff that we needed and then we found the spot that we were going to use. We set up all of the equipment. After we got the string and put it Through the straw that we were using we got the chairs and put one on the ground where the grass was and the other up on the platform we tied the fishing wire to the chairs then we blew  up the balloon and then we let it go and then all of the air pushed to balloon to the other chair. The chairs were about 3 metres away from each other. All of us were Writing all of the data that we got from the rocket balloon experiment.

Inquiry project

At The start of the term my learning was multi-structural because I walked passed rubbish and picked it up,  I gave people help if they were hurt,  if I found something I put it in the lost property and if I made a mess I would clean it up.

Now my learning is extended abstract because if I use it I bring it back, if I find someone's property I give it to them, of I turn something on I turn it off when I'm done. If I make a mess I clean it up. It's really good because you look after everyone and yourself you look after the environment.

This term it show that I'm a responsible citizen because I pick up rubbish and clean up what I did and give back someone's hat or jumper. I give people advices what they could improve on their work. I also check on people if they’re hurt.

The canteen project helps people to be a responsible citizen because at the canteen we won't use glad wrap and stuff that's bad for the environment. So our project is good because it's stopping rubbish going into our school.

The challenges were hard because we had to do it again but it won't let us delete it so we had to keep doing it. Overall I think it's a great idea for the school because kids eat healthy food and kids become more of a responsible citizen and they would look after the lunch space.

Hard out

On cold, foggy, winter Saturday mornings,  I love to play hockey. I know that I am going to get muddy, but I love it. I put my  uniform on  and warm up with a hot milo. I  need to introduce myself because I am new to the team. I run, dribble, pass, save, score and wherever the ball goes, I go. Even if I don't get the ball I still  love it .

Responsible citizen

Are you a responsible citizen? Being a role model is important. If a big kid who is not a role model and does something next to a little kid then the little kid would say it looks fun so I'm going to try this and they get trouble because of the non-role model. The little kids look up to the big kids.

Follow the rules and laws is  also important. Everybody could just walk up to someone and just start to bully them so don't do that because you will get  trouble with the coppers. And you don't won’t that to happen. And my mum just does that because she goes with the law and doesn't break it.

Care about other people. If this did not happen then people would Bully each other, so we are lucky to have so many people who care in the world. When my mum sees someone hurt or sad then she would look after them.

Trustworthy is also very important. So if someone said to their mum or brother can you hold this for a sec and then they would put it down or eat it  then they won't be trustworthy. But when I give a chocolate to my mum to hold then she would, and I trust her.

My mum follows the rules and laws, she's a role model to other people and to me. She also cares about other people when they're hurt or sad and makes them happy. She's trustworthy, I can trust her. She helps everyone and helps them with something they would like.

It's  good to be a responsible citizen because you look after the environment and people.

I Am poem

I am a Lamborghini, speedy, and smart.

I am the Twin Towers, helping other people and myself.

I am a policeman, telling people to do the right thing in public.

I am an orange: juicy, fresh, and nice.
